THE RECENT FIRES, NEAR THE YORK UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, IN TORONTO, HAS PROMPETED, THE INVESTIGATION, OF SEVERAL UNSCRUPULOUS LANDLORDS, LIKE LUSHAN JUNJIAN LU, WHO IS UNDER INVESTIGATION, BY THE CITY'S MUNICIPAL LICENSING STANDARDS, AND FIRE DEPARTMENT, FOR ILLEGAL ACTIONS, BY THE OWNERS OF THOSE PROPERTIES.
Toronto Police Chief, Bill Blair and Lushan Lu
It pays to have friends in high places, and especially a police chief, at that, as this owner of several properties in Toronto, has also come to realized. For years, he has gotten away with his illegal actions, and with the cooperation of the local police division, who I think also knew about his activities, but went along with it. But the recent fires that broke out in two houses, near the York University Campus, recently, in which several students lost all of their properties, has also prompted the investigation, of the owners of those properties, including Lushan Lu, shown in this picture.
Lushan Lu, turns out to be one of the worst landlords, in the area, owning several houses in what is known as "The Village", near the York University campus, near Keele Street and Finch Avenue and has for years, evaded the city's municipal bylaws, regarding his properties, turning all of them into illegal rooming houses and even "hotels", and all the while being a friend of the police in the area, in this case, the 31 Division police and also a buddy, of the top gun, Chief Bill Blair, himself.
It doesn't stop there either, it turns out that this unscrupulous owner, has also owned other properties, near the University of Toronto campus and in fact all over the city, without gathering any attention, to his illegal activities, by turning them into illegal rooming houses and hotels and even catering to tourists, and right under the city's bylaw officials' noses. It has also turned out that the Toronto Fire Department, has also been investigating, several of his properties, near the York Universiy campus, over the years, but somehow, he has also managed to get away, with his fire code violations, until the recent fires, in the two other houses, that has also prompted the city, to crack down on those owners.
It took almost losing the lives of those students, for the Toronto City officials, to investigate the owners, of those buildings. I believed that some of those city officials were simply paid off, to turn a blind eye, to those owners and to not investigate their actions. It it also impossible to believe, that they could have gotten away with their actions, for so many years, without the Toronto City officials, doing anything about it, until recently. And in Lushan Lu's case, being a friend of the Toronto police
has also helped.
The question to be asked is this? How could he have been involved, in any illegal activities, while being associated with the police? It is a known fact, that he has been investigated and is also being prosecuted, by the city's Municipal Licensing Standards, and is also facing other investigations and possibly other charges, by the Toronto Fire Department and others. So how could he have still been associated, with the law enforcement officials, including the Toronto police chief, Bill Blair?. That is how far police corruption goes, it seems. This one just fits in nicely, with the other stories about them and most people are actually not surprised, at all, in regards to that question, or even with regards to the police themselves.
And even if the public, also wanted to try to overlook the actions, of this person, in evading city officials and the government, regarding those properties, the nagging question remains, that people who are known, to be associated with the police, or any other officials, could also break the law? And many of them do get away with their actions, until some circumstances, also get them caught, as in the case of Lushan Junjian Lu. Not a small matter, either, when you also add up the fact, that, as the owner of those properties, he has also made, perhaps millions of dollars, in revenues.
And it seem that the City of Toronto, by finally going after him, also wants a share of those profits.
